Majorca is a beautiful Island off the coast of Spain, and it attracts millions of holiday makers every year, in this article we’ll be looking at some of the things that make this Island such a popular holiday destination. By the time you have finished reading this article you will be in a position to make an informed decision about whether you want to make Majorca your summer holiday destination for 2010.

The great thing about Majorca is that it caters for everyone, it doesn’t matter whether you are on a family holiday, or travelling by yourself you won’t have a problem finding things to do. Holidays in Majorca have a lot to offer.

If you decide you want to laze about in the sun then Majorca is a great choice of holiday destination because it has an excellent climate, summer temperatures can hit around 30 degrees Celsius and it rarely rains so you can be sure that the weather won’t let you down.

Majorca is also home to several beaches, that can be found in several of the resort towns such as Puerto Pollensa, Alcudia, Cala D’or and El Arenal to name but a few. The beaches are really clean and the water sparkles in the sunlight. If you want to get some peace and quiet then you can head to one of several secluded beaches, or if you like the more lively beaches then check out Magaluf beach, it is arguably the best on the Island.

If you plan to spend a lot of your holiday partying then you should consider going on one of our holidays in Magaluf. Magaluf is home to several clubs that play various types of music. Some of them even host foam parties!

As you can see Majorca is an amazing place, if you haven’t booked a summer holiday already, maybe you should book one to Majorca.

What little rainfall this arid island receives tends to fall between January and March, paving the way for numerous species of flora to make their annual appearance.

As the temperatures begin to rise again, fields of daisies, poppies and Canarian stock burst into bloom. They last for only a few weeks though, as the consistently warm weather soon exhausts the plants until the next year.

The best places to see these colourful carpets are in the north of the island, around the Valley of a Thousand Palms or in the central region around the town of Mozaga. Visitors who come at this time of year are always delighted by the sight of scarlet poppies waving in the wind.

To enjoy this short-lived season, it is best to hire a car and head off for a day’s exploration, armed with a camera. Lanzarote car hire offers an affordable way of getting out into the scenic countryside, quite apart from the independence it gives travellers to visit the many attractions on the island.

Within the main resorts there is plenty of colour all year round, as the main thoroughfares and public spaces are liberally planted with a huge range of semi-tropical and tropical plants. Particularly abundant are the gardens adorning most of the hotels in Lanzarote, which are lovingly tended.

Species that thrive with little assistance include the bird of paradise flower or strelitzia, which is used along many of the roads on the island. Hibiscus is often cultivated as a form of hedge, as it can take quite harsh pruning and shaping.

Bougainvillea introduces bright splashes of colour wherever it is used, although it is not always ideal when planted by the pools of Lanzarote holiday villas as the petals often get blown into the water. It is particularly well-adapted to the desert climate of Lanzarote though, as it requires very little watering to thrive.

Perhaps the most successful plants of all to be frequently grown on the island are cacti. The spiny species has mastered the dry climate to such an extent that it can survive with no additional irrigation than that which nature supplies. Many of the cacti that are grown as ornamental plants do produce flowers, especially following the rain. Some of which look more like lilies, with large trumpet shaped blooms hanging off the spiny column.

Fuel prices are up and the economy is down this year. That makes getting the most bang out of your travel buck important. Thailand represents a fascinating and excellent travel destination that is also an incredible deal.

Known as the land of smiles, Thailand is one of those truly unique Southeast Asian countries that boogle the mind. From the warm beaches of the southern coast to the mountain palace of the King in Chang Mai in the north, there is a lot to see and do. Best of all, you can do it all for one of the lowest travel costs in the world.

In the late 1990s, the Asian economies were absolutely crushed over a one year period. Part and parcel to this disaster was the loss of currency value. Much like the dollar is falling now, the Thai “Baht” suffered. Instead of a down period, however, it fell like a rock dropped from a plane and hasn’t really come back.

Put simply, this currency issue has made Thailand a cheap, cheap place. Your biggest expense will be the flight. It can run $650 round trip at a minimum. It should also be noted that the flight is very long if you are coming from North America. A flight from Los Angeles can easily take 24 hours or more.

Once in Thailand, the good news is you’ll be getting a lot for your dollar. Yes, even now. You can always go nuts in any location, but I’ll assume you are going to be reasonable. A good, fresh meal will set you back $2 to $5 and be a lot less if you avoid the touristy areas.

There is one meal item that is expensive – beer. You can expect to pay $2 to $3 per bottle. It isn’t outrageous, but it seems like it after you are conditioned to the cheap food.

Getting around is also incredibly cheap. Trains are popular, but also packed. One of the secrets of Thailand is the domestic airline industry. Simply put, it is excellent and cheap. I’ve splurged on flights from Bangkok to Chang Mai in the north of the country and spend a whopping $38 for a one way ticket. Traveling on trains is great, but you also lose a lot of time. Cheap domestic flights are a good way to avoid this.

Thailand is definitely a great destination for those that want to maximize their experience on a minimum of expense. There are the usual high priced tourist areas, but even a small effort to avoid them can result in a trip that is cheaper than you could ever imagine.

Located on the east coast of the Yucatan Peninsula, Cancun provides several lagoons and sand bars, as well as gourmet restaurants, shopping attractions, and several ways to enjoy the ocean.

Just 60 miles south of Cancun is the lovely little town of Akumal. It used to be a sleepy little fishing village but it has become a tourist favorite with it’s pristine beaches, laid back atmosphere and fantastic snorkeling and diving.

Cozumel is another popular place to travel in Mexico. Cozumel is well-known for being the largest island of the Mexican Caribbean. The Palancar Reef and the ocean floor around the island are perfect for divers, skin divers, and cruise ship guests that travel to Mexico for fun and sun.

The white sandy beaches of Acapulco are just one of the reasons why millions of people travel to Mexico each year. A sanctuary for the rich and famous, Acapulco is known for the glitz and glamour that it provides.

Guadalajara, which is second largest place to travel to in Mexico, is a largely economical and political city. It is also full of beautiful and historic buildings that display the history and culture of Guadalajara.

Two of the fastest growing places to travel in Mexico are Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo. Originally a haven for pirates, Los Cabos each offer a different type of environment for guests to enjoy. Cabo San Lucas has stylish hotels and condos with a number of sport fishing and water sports. San Jose del Cabo, however, is a quieter environment filled with beaches, golf, and shopping galore.

Puerto Vallarta has everything that you need when you travel to Mexico. It has multiple restaurant, golf, tennis, mountain biking, snorkeling, scuba diving, horseback riding, and everything that you need to do while enjoying your time and travels.

Also a popular tourist location, Veracruz is also one of the oldest cities. Activities like the country’s Carnaval, local museums, the open-air markets, and much more provide plenty of things to keep you busy while on your trip.

No matter where you go or what you do, when you travel to Mexico you can have as relaxing, active, or cultural experience as you like. You can also visit historic buildings, listen to the music, and enjoy the beauty of any area of Mexico.

Choosing a travel destination may be the toughest part of your travel. People travel for many different reasons. Whether far away or close to home, time away from home is needed to give a person a chance to relax, renew energy, and freedom from the daily routine. Choosing a travel destination is an individual choice and you have to decide how to balance the factors important to you for making travel planning and destination decisions. Here’s some information to help guide you to find the right destination.

What is the length of your trip?

A long weekend vs. a two week dream destination will lead you to looking toward different areas of the globe. You also have to factor in time differences when you cross time lines, jet lag and losing a day or two just getting back and forth. Even with quick getaways you have to weigh if it’s easier to drive or if it takes just as long driving to the airport, getting through security and the time in the aircraft.

How will you get there?

If you are deathly afraid of flying, then going across the ocean is probably out of the question, unless you’re willing to make an ocean crossing in a ship. You still have the option of cruising if you can drive to where you board the ship. You also have to consider whether you want to get there quickly or take your time and stop frequently along the way.

Is it safe?

There are places in the world that it’s not safe to be due to political instability and hostility toward certain nationalities. For citizens of the United States you can check travel advisories at the Department of State website. Here’s the address: http://travel.state.gov/index.html

Seasonal Conditions?

Do you like the snow or the sun? Keep in mind hurricane season (June 1-November 30), monsoons, rain, etc. of the region you’re considering. There are also times of “high season” when a majority of people travel to certain destinations and that means the prices are higher and choices may be more limited. High season for Europe is July and August; for the Caribbean it’s January, February and March; for cruising the low season coincides with hurricane season.

What do you want to do?

Shop? Nightlife? Golf? Family activities? Read by a pool? Site seeing? Gambling? Adventure? Volunteer? Commune with nature? It is possible to find something for everyone with a little research.

What’s your budget?

This is likely to have the most impact on your choice of destination. You have to consider costs of meals, transportation, lodging, incidentals, fees. Will you have to watch your pennies or can you splurge?

Who’s going on the trip?

A family vacation is much different than a romantic getaway. You can always share a house or villa with family or friends, but then you have factor in their desires, too. You also have to factor in age and mobility and any other special considerations.

No matter where you may go on your next trip, if you ask yourself these questions you’ll be sure to have a fabulous trip. Best of luck to you in your search and have fun at your next travel destination.
